Play-based learning

At The Seaforth Kindergarten, we know every child’s learning “light” turns on at their own pace.

That’s why our nurturing, kind environment supports the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically—helping each child build confidence through their individual learning journey. While play remains central, children are also supported through structured learning experiences that help them develop strong foundations for school readiness.

Literacy and Language

Our experienced teaching team, guided by our Educational Leader, delivers tailored literacy programmes which are a precursor to the NSW Primary School Curriculum to support each child’s learning. Children participate in weekly one-on-one learning experiences, explore our library, and engage with early readers to develop phonics, storytelling, language and comprehension skills. These experiences build confidence, encourage self-expression and foster a lifelong love of language - laying a strong foundation for school and beyond.

Early Learning Numeracy program

Numeracy and Early Maths

Through personalised one-on-one numeracy sessions, your child will explore numbers, patterns, problem-solving and early maths concepts such as counting, addition and subtraction - learning at their own pace and building confidence every step of the way. Our programme nurtures a love of learning and lays strong foundations for your child’s future success in mathematics and is a valuable forerunner to the NSW Primary School Maths Curriculum.

Science and STEM

Our Science and STEM programme encourages children to ask questions, explore ideas and investigate how things work. During small group learning sessions, children work together, developing teamwork, curiosity, critical thinking and early problem-solving skills. It also inspires young inventors, nurtures creativity, confidence and a love of learning, while giving them the tools to explore, experiment and innovate.

Wellbeing &
Physical Development

Physical development is essential for children’s wellbeing and preparation for school. Our Gross Motor Programme, delivered during outdoor group sessions, develops strength, balance, coordination and ball skills while building teamwork, camaraderie and a sense of fun. These lessons also lay the foundation for future participation in school sports. Alongside this, our Occupational Therapy-informed programme supports fine motor skills, sensory regulation and independence, helping children feel confident, capable and ready to thrive.

Creative Expression

At The Seaforth Kindergarten, art is at the heart of everything we do, with a programme well-known in our community and leading the way in creative early learning. Through rich art experiences, your child will explore their imagination, build confidence and develop creativity and self-expression - foundations for lifelong learning. Many of their creations can be hung with pride on your art wall at home. Creativity flows into music, movement and dance. This is celebrated throughout the year in our music programme and our end-of-year Dance and Music Spectacular, where children proudly share their growth in dance and movement with parents, grandparents and extended family.

Social Learning and Respect

Our Social Justice programme nurtures kindness, inclusion and fairness from an early age. Through gentle, age-appropriate group times, children explore empathy, respect and diversity - preparing them for life in school and playgrounds.

These experiences build resilience, confidence and positive relationships, helping children feel a true sense of belonging and step into school as compassionate, capable and connected learners. By embedding early social justice principles, they develop fairness, collaboration, problem solving and inclusive friendships - skills that also foster leadership. Many of our former students have gone on to become leaders within their school environment. Our programme focuses on the development of the whole child in becoming active future contributors within their community.

A Balanced and Supportive Programme

All our programmes work together as part of a well-rounded learning experience. Educators work closely as a team to support each child’s development, while remaining responsive to individual interests and needs.

Our goal is to create a calm, supportive environment where children feel confident, capable, and excited to learn.

Our
Learning Journey

At our centre, we believe every child’s learning journey is unique, meaningful and full of possibility. Through nurturing relationships, play-based experiences and guidance from the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we create environments where children feel safe, supported and inspired to grow.

As children move through each room, they build confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging. Our programmes are thoughtfully designed to support their development at every stage - encouraging curiosity, creativity and a love of learning, while gently preparing them for a smooth and confident transition to school.

Einstein Room

3 - 4 YEARS

  • Inspired by Albert Einstein’s curiosity and sense of wonder, our Einstein Room is a place where your child’s natural love of learning begins to shine. At this age, children are full of questions, imagination and excitement as they start to make sense of the world around them.

In this nurturing environment, children build meaningful, trusting relationships with their teachers, creating a strong sense of security and belonging. Through play-based learning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we gently introduce early literacy and mathematical concepts in ways that are engaging, fun and meaningful.

Through small group times, children begin to listen, share and grow in confidence, while rest times support their wellbeing and sense of calm.

Most importantly, this stage is about connection. Children begin forming friendships, learning to play alongside others and developing a sense of belonging within their little community.

Every day in the Einstein Room is filled with curiosity, discovery and those special “lightbulb moments” - where children begin to realise just how truly capable they are.

Picasso Room

4 - 5 YEARS

  • Inspired by Pablo Picasso’s creativity and imagination, our Picasso Room is a space where children are encouraged to express who they are and explore the world in their own unique way. At this stage, children’s ideas become bigger, their confidence grows, and they begin to develop a strong sense of independence.

In this nurturing environment, children build meaningful relationships with their teachers and peers, creating a strong sense of belonging and community. Through play-based learning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we support children in developing early literacy, phonics, mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills in ways which are engaging and fun.

Creativity is at the heart of everything we do. Through art, imaginative play and hands-on experiences, children are encouraged to “give things a go”, think independently and express their thoughts and feelings. Group times support confidence and communication, while moments of downtime are supported through mindfulness and story time, allowing children to relax and reset.

As children continue to grow, we place a strong focus on social development, friendships, school readiness and independence, helping them feel confident within their peer group and connected to their community.

The Picasso Room is a place where creativity is celebrated, individuality is valued, and children grow into confident, capable and independent learners.

Mozart Room

5 - 6 YEARS

  • Inspired by Mozart’s mastery and discipline, our Mozart Room is where children begin to refine their skills and step confidently into school readiness. At this stage, children are growing in independence, focus and confidence as they prepare for their transition into primary school.

In this supportive environment, children build strong, meaningful relationships with their teachers and peers, creating a sense of belonging as they take on new challenges. Through play-based and more structured learning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), we support children in developing early literacy, phonics, mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills.

A strong focus is placed on school readiness, with experiences that encourage children to follow routines, build concentration and confidently participate in group learning. Group times support communication, listening and teamwork. While music, movement and creative experiences continue to inspire a love of learning.

We also value the importance of balance, with moments of downtime supported through mindfulness and story time, allowing children to relax, reflect and feel calm.

As children approach this important transition, we nurture their independence, social confidence and ability to build positive relationships, helping them feel capable, prepared and excited for school.

The Mozart Room is a place where children grow into confident, capable and school-ready learners, ready to thrive in their next chapter.
